The Man Behind the HIgh Sec Care Bears Heist

We sat down with Titus Mayaki after his controversial heist of an estimated 2.1 trillion isk of assets from the rental corp HIgh Sec Care Bears <HISCB>, which is a member corporation of the renter alliance Brothers of Tangra <B0T>.  Titus was a Director in the corp and utilized those roles to steal otherwise secure assets. Titus’s grand larceny was publicly announced in a post on Reddit, where he detailed the theft, and attracted the comments and criticism of many New Eden pilots.

Titus Interview

The following interview has been edited for readability.

Fyt 284

Hi! So, there were some things I would like to ask you about the recent heist.

Titus

Go for it, I’m an open book

Fyt 284

The first being, who are you in game, and what was your direct role in the heist?

Titus

Titus Mayaki is my main toon.

My direct role was that I grabbed what I could out of the majority of the corp hangars in 8 systems and 1 POS and sent it to asset safety, and then watched quietly. It was about 10-12 hours before they realized what had happened and who did it

Fyt 284

What was the atmosphere like in the corp after they figured out what happened?

Titus

I was not on comms, but a lot of concern. Members knew everything was gone, but not to what extent. I did not have access to the holding corp so everything there was untouched. Once they shared who, there was a little hostility, and they had to deal with me in corp for 24 hours once my roles were removed.

Fyt 284

I bet, did anyone go overboard with the hostility?  Do you still have your hands?

Titus

lol No real response in real life, only threats and a little info that one member could remember.

Fyt 284

No doxxing then?

Titus

I still have all my phalanges. Not thus far, I hope there won’t be.

Fyt 284

What drove you to steal everything that wasn’t bolted down from the people that you had flown with for so long?  Surely there was more than boredom?

Titus

No not really, I was not mad at anyone.

They are the best group I have ever played with in Eve, and I would still recommend them.

But why then… Why not? It is a game of pixels.

Fyt 284

So you saw the opportunity and took it?

Titus

Basically, I was moving capital parts to throw a Charon in build from QSCO to POQP, and I had not been able to sleep, and had been curious about the mechanics of containers and security.

I was considering putting all my BPOs in corp hangar for my toons to share

Instead of contracting them or trading, just to make things easier.

When I grabbed that bin with almost an entire Rag build completed, I was like, “oh shit! I can!”

Fyt 284

Did you manage to empty the corp wallet?

Titus

No, I didn’t even try.

I have gotten much flack from friends for what I did not grab.  I left an Erebus in a pos, mining fleet

Fyt 284

What did you miss?

Titus

A bunch of ore in other systems, well over 130bil worth of stuff.

I did not know when directors would be logging in, so i was grabbing as much as I knew I could, as quickly as I could.

If I had planned it, I would have had a titan pilot on standby, but I didn’t plan it.

I left the clone bays alone, and I did not touch rigs or any mods.

Fyt 284

So you left them in a decent position to be able to recover from the heist?

Titus

The only malicious thing I did was delete their main comm channel on discord and banned the sickos that made inappropriate comments about children.

Fyt 284

That seems justified to be honest

Titus

Yeah, they did sweat a little because i took their fuel stock, but nothing from fuel bays, but within 48 hrs the entire corp collected 90% of their materials for making fuel blocks. But I did have their 20 or so bpos for making them.  I have already been told they are good for this month on fuel.

Fyt 284

So, now that you’ve asset safety’d all of their belongings, what are your plans for the future, and how do you plan to pay all those asset delivery fees?

Titus

I do have some of my own isk that I will use, what I can pull out I will and sell and continue the process till it is all out.

I can give you a bit on the climate in the corp concerning me now, and no, I do not have a spy toon in there, just friends.

Fyt 284

Go for it.

Titus

So on comms we used the word “Pringles” as a safe word to keep comms civil, as you can imagine with larger corps, comms can become rather violent and caustic. So basically any conversation if anyone pringles it, it is dropped never to be brought up again

Fyt 284

That is an interesting concept.

Titus

Last month, Methos pringled nano fit drakes. It actually helps, and we have had many take it with them to other corps, and it has changed the corp dynamics.

I am pringled, and the whole Reddit theft thing is pringled. lol

Fyt 284

Do you think that pringleing will be an effective way to stop the conversation about you?

Titus

On main comms, yes, every member abides by it, it is one of the few rules I would tell every recruit.  People have been banned from comms after being warned. It is serious, but privately people can talk about what they want, that is why there are several comm channels

Fyt 284

So, now that you’ve made your corp theft public do you have any plans for where you are going to make your new home?

Titus

I have offers, some good, some costly, some rather interesting. I have not decided, I have considered a break for the summer. My wife will like that.

Everyone from FETID that I knew has spots for me they say, some still trust me. lol

Fyt 284

That would probably allow some time for people to forget about you and allow you to set up heist 2.0.

Titus

lol, I have been asked about that as well, lots and lots of jokes as you can imagine.

Fyt 284

Do you intend to pull off another heist some time in the distant future?

Titus

Nope, this was not planned so I won’t plan another. But if opportunity presented itself?  At this point why? There is nothing out of reach with this kind of Isk. I joined to make dank Isk as they say, and I have obtained a lot more than I planned for.  Would you if you had the opportunity? Just between us.

Fyt 284

Well, I am CEO of Requiem Eternal, so I have the opportunity, but I’ve never considered doing so.

Titus

Oh that’s cool. I did not know that.

Fyt 284

Well, thank you for taking time to do this interview

Titus

No problem.

HIgh Sec Care Bears Statement

New Eden Report received the following statement from Sootsia, CEO of HISCB –

07  Several days ago. a former director and recruiter, “out of boredom” decided to  empty out most of the corporations assets in the hangers, including personal assets of the other directors that were stored their as well for the benefit of our corporation.  We are a tight knit family orientated community, so this came as a bit of a surprise, being that the one responsible for the security checks, was in fact the one whom would decide to stoop to become a thief.  I say stoop, because in EvE, you can play behind the mask of anonymity, thinking that no one will ever know the real you, yet, in EvE the REAL you is exposed. The real you that you keep hidden from everyone else in R/L because of “consequences”.   While some may aspire to become a good corporation thief, and manage to get away with close to 2 trillion in assets, he lost far more than that. He failed to realize that the most valuable asset in EvE is “Friendship”. He gained space pixels, and lost in exchange, the goodwill and friendship of his corpmates as well as the trust of anyone who interacts with his characters  Titus Mayaki, Lola Sweets, Nia Sweets, Nala Sweets, Obed-Edom, Mina Sweets, Purity Sweets, Emily Sweets and not the least, his last, Gay L0rd Focker. All those toons are now known as Corp Thieves, that real special brand of warm fuzzy that every CEO wants to have in their corporation. His “betrayal” only energized our base to pull together, and in mere hours, much of what Titus had intended  to do as harm, became undone. Our family pulled together and truly showed its greatness that a single rotten apple or hidden worm could not undo. I wish Titus Mayaki and his myriad of alts the best of luck out there in the loneliness of space with all of EvE now knowing him for the man he is, and wish him every good luck in getting all those assets out of asset safety in Odebeinn.
