PANDEMIC LEGION FORTIZAR SAVED IN TENERFIS
Legacy and North-Eastern Allies clashed in ZMV9-A, Tenerifis over a Pandemic Legion fortizar on the 23rd. Legacy fielded Rokh, Ferox, Cerberus and Jackdaw subcap fleet(s) supported by Chimeras. Eastern Allies brought a Nightmare, Cerberus and Munnin fleet, with dreads and carriers – and significantly higher numbers. The fortizar was successfully defended, with Legacy taking 83.62b in damages vs 32.2b for the defenders.
SNUFFED OUT DESTROY GHOST LEGION TITANS AND SUPERS IN MALPAIS
On July 23rd Snuffed Out ambushed Ghost Legion titans and supercarriers running a Blood Raider Sotiyo in V-JCJS, Malpais. The toll stands at 419.72b ISK lost by Ghost Legion and allies vs 18.17b ISK lost by Snuffed Out. An article by Salivan Harddin detailing the engagement is here.
UALX-3 HELLCAMP CLOSES WITH A GREAT ESCAPE
The UALX-3 Hellcamp which began after the battle on the 19th over the Legacy Keepstar has drawn to an end. As previously reported, a large portion of the North-Eastern bloc titans and supercarriers were trapped in system following a node crash just before downtime on the 19th.
Legacy responded by announcing a system-wide hellcamp, then proceeded to anchor a replacement Keepstar on the grid where the fleets logged off, along with large numbers of bubbles. Legacy Coalition updates ordered pilots to maintain an all-round presence in the system to destroy any pilots on log in and to keep the players trapped for as long as possible.
On the 24th Black Legion entered UALX in Muninns and began to clear hostile bubbles to allow their dreadnoughts to log in and escape system. Despite losing 3 dreadnoughts, the operation was successful.
On the 25th North-Eastern forces duplicated the tactic with a Muninn fleet and were able to successfully extract the trapped titans and supercarriers. TEST report that the hellcamp has stood down, but skirmishing in the system continues, with a brawl on the 26th resulting in 28.95b losses for TEST.
NORTH-WESTERN FRONT TIMER AND STRUCTURE RACE
The north-western front remains highly active with both sides reinforcing structures and creating entosis timers. Large scale form-ups in recent days have seen both groups stand down when vastly outnumbered, although at this stage neither group seem to hold a clear advantage. Circle-of-Two and Guardians of the Galaxy Keepstars have both been reinforced, but successfully defended. The strategy from Northern defenders is to create multiple entosis timers to slow down attacking forces who are systematically reinforcing Fortizars and other structures.
SHADOW CARTEL KEEPSTAR FINAL TIMER 27TH 0030 UTC
VENDETTA DOWN, MAJOR BATTLES IN LOWSEC
On July 25th a Pandemic Legion Vendetta was destroyed in Kenobanala, Derelik. This is the seventh Vendetta destroyed ingame. responsible for the kill have caught large numbers of supers in the last week, and a titan, across various lowsec regions.
A battle over a Siege Green Athanor in Gurkala, Metropolis, escalated on the 26th. Snuffed out and allies dropped titans and supers on the defenders’ dread and Machariel fleet. The Athanor was destroyed, along with 83.49b to 18.7b in ships. A short summary is here, and we will post a full battle report once interviews are complete.
ALLIANCE TOURNAMENT XVI COMMENCES THIS WEEKEND PLUS ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM CCP
The revamped reward system for buddy referrals was released, along with a new marketing video on the 20th. The old system which rewarded 500 PLEX to all referees upon the new account’s upgrade to Omega has been substantially revamped. New rewards include accelerators and BPCs, with a reduced PLEX reward. Although the rewards scale based upon the number of successful players recruited. The most significant alteration to the scheme is the removal of rewards issued when a referral link is upgraded to Omega via PLEX (see the Terms & Conditions).
Despite early criticism from players in reaction, the rate of new accounts created has not seen a noticeable slump as yet – although a longer period will be required to review the effects. Comments from CCP Falcon in the feedback thread indicate this system may be adjusted as required.
CCP released a megablog on the 25th which includes the schedule for the upcoming Alliance Tournament XVI. The action starts on the 28th at 14.00 UTC. An introduction to ATXVI is here – we will keep you updated as the tournament progresses.
CCP games announced on the 26th that Unreal Engine 4 is the exclusive development tool for their upcoming projects. This announcement is likely to fuel speculation over upcoming projects, including the London-based action-MMO in development.
For now, that’s how it is in New Eden. Good night.
