NER News at 7 o’clock. This is Hugh Caswakk. Good evening.

Imperium forces have reinforced the Aunenen Sanctuary Keepstar, in Lonetrek, owned by Ghost Legion with involvement of Matterall.

Snuffed Out/Pen is Out defeat Brothers of Tangra multiboxing capital fleet in S-R9J2.

Late last night, the Imperium reinforced the shield of the Aunenen sanctuary keepstar. This structure is owned by Ghost Legion, led by Fafer, in association with other individuals – particularly Matterall – with the ambition of providing services to non-bloc aligned groups. In particular, due to its relative proximity to Jita, it has been used to trade supercapitals; mostly for northern alliances.

The Imperium has never agreed with freeport keepstars, and has a long-held injunction against their anchoring in Imperium areas of influence. In particular, it is understood that the Imperium view Aunenen as part of a network for use by NCdot to project supercapital force. This concern is exacerbated by the fact that Goonswarm Federation and Snuffed Out are denied docking rights in Aunenen. This has raised claims that it is not a freeport, but rather part of a Northern Bloc network.

Therefore, they have set out to destroy it as enemy infrastructure. This is doubly useful for the Imperium because it deprives the Northern Bloc of a potential source of supercapitals. The owners of the structure do not seem positive about its survival. Fafer has issued an evacuation order, asking for it to be reprinted by NER:

Due to the circumstances surrounding the reinforcement of the Keepstar, residents are strongly advised to evacuate their materials within five days. Failure to do so may result in a loss of jump clones or forced asset safety. Users who choose to stay or not evacuate their belongings do so at their own risk.

When reached for comment, Matterall – host of popular podcast Talking in Stations and member of the Sanctuary Keepstar project, said:

Imperium sees it as a strategic midpoint, while NC sees it as a low sec station they tolerate on their border. The Sanctuary Keepstar is being used as a pawn between warring parties, but the attack is a hit to the morale of many independent players who want to access the higher gameplay of building, selling, living, without having to choose a side or play politics.

NER will keep you updated as the situation progresses.

In a short action between 1801 and 1828 EVE yesterday, a combined Snuffed Out/Pen Is Out (WANGS) fleet engaged and destroyed a number of BOT carriers, multiboxed by two players. It appears that the situation came about when a Very Large Wormhole spawned in S-R9J2, Malpais. Three WANGS pilots went through on a random roam. One was swiftly destroyed by the pair of BOT players in system, but the others called for back-up.

The cavalry arrived in the form of a combined SNUFF/WANGS fleet, mainly Lokis with Gila support. The BOT players dropped a number of carriers, along with a FAX and dreadnought. However, they were defanged by the expeditionary force and the majority promptly destroyed.

The toll stands at 104.55m lost by SNUFF/WANGS vs 22.08bn ISK lost by Brothers of Tangra and associated alt-corps.

For now, that’s how it is in New Eden. Goodnight.
