J-OK0C system, Pure Blind region. On the 24th of April at 10:34 EVE Standard Time, a clash occurred between Triumvirate. [TRI] and Snuffed Out [B B C].

The battle was fought over a Triumvirate-owned Athanor refinery. The structure had been anchored by the alliance and was set to exit its invulnerability mode at a problematic time for the alliance. Triumvirate decided to attempt and defend the structure regardless, calling upon Ranger Regiment [RR] and Siege Green. [SGGRN] for further reinforcements.

Thus, Triumvirate managed to form a 30-pilot Machariel battleship fleet with a Minokawa force auxiliary serving as its logistics wing. Two more Minokawas and eight dreadnoughts remained on standby, waiting for their call. The fleet waited at the system, tethered to the anchoring structure to guard it. Siege Green fielded a 24-pilot Brutix Navy Issue battlecruiser fleet, while Ranger Regiment had a 44-pilot Ishtar heavy assault cruiser fleet waiting to engage. The two allies traveled to the system, with Siege Green arriving in time to aid Triumvirate.

Snuffed Out formed its own fleet to contest the timer, managing to gather 55 pilots in a Legion strategic cruiser fleet that included two force auxiliaries and 15 dreadnoughts. The alliance kept its capital force in reserve and bridged its sub capital fleet to the system. The strategic cruisers materialized at a perch above the structure and warped down. They were soon joined by a Banderlogs Alliance [.RU] 15-pilot Maelstrom battleship fleet with a lone Minokawa serving as its logistics wing.

The two attacking fleets started engaging the structure, which exited its invulnerability stage and began onlining. Both fleets were waiting for Triumvirate to break tether and engage them. Once the Siege Green reinforcements arrived on grid, Triumvirate did just that, and the two sides started trading blows on the Athanor.

The fight quickly became a slug as neither side was able to break the other. The Triumvirate and Banderlogs Alliance Minokawas proved too strong for either side to break through their remote shield transfers while the Snuffed Out Legion fleet’s Guardian logistics wing kept on the ball and repaired any armor damage. The Siege Green battlecruisers remained at long range of the fight and added their firepower, but were far enough not to be targeted by any of the brawling fleets.

While the two sides kept probing for weaknesses, the Athanor itself was losing hull integrity as the Snuffed Out fleet had ordered its drones to attack the structure. Bit by bit, its hit points were whittled down by a cloud of combat drones. As the stalemate continued, the structure was getting closer and closer to its demise.

After nearly 10 minutes of back and forth with no result, Snuffed Out decided to force an escalation. It lit a cynosural beacon near the Triumvirate Minokawa and brought in an Apostle force auxiliary and five dreadnoughts. Triumvirate retaliated, lit its own cynosural beacon and brought in its reserve capital squadron only to be immediately countered by Snuffed Out who had the reminder of its dreadnoughts jump in. The battle had turned into a capital brawl.

The two sides squared off, dreadnoughts entering siege cycles and blasting each other off at point blank range. Their respective fleets joined their firepower to burn down the capital hulls as the battle raged on. From the very beginning, however, Triumvirate was outnumbered and outgunned, which was more pronounced in the dreadnought brawl as Snuffed Out quickly burned down the Triumvirate capital squadron, losing only four dreadnoughts in the process.

While the two sides fought over the structure, the Athanor itself had finally lost all remaining hit points and exploded, losing the objective for Triumvirate. However, Triumvirate did receive reinforcements in the form of the Ranger Regiment Ishtar fleet that had finally managed to arrive in system and warp at long range of the fight. The heavy assault cruisers unleashed their drone horde, first targeting the Snuffed Out logistics wing which shrugged them off before descending on the Banderlogs Alliance battleships, snagging a Maelstrom kill.

Before the hostilities could continue though, the server’s scheduled downtime hit, disconnecting all combatants. For the next few minutes, all sides waited nervously for the server to boot up again before logging in and reforming their respective fleets. For Triumvirate, which had lost most of its capital ships as well as the refinery, it was time to withdraw. It used the server reboot to gather its fleet and attempt an escape. Snuffed Out and Banderlogs Alliance logged in quickly and attempted to tackle the fleet in turn. They were able to destroy a few battleships but the rest of the fleet managed to slip away.

With Triumvirate gone, Siege Green and Ranger Regiment followed suit, leaving Snuffed Out and Banderlogs Alliance to loot the field. With the Athanor gone, Banderlogs Alliance claimed the moon while Snuffed Out looted and salvaged the wrecks before departing, bringing an end to the fighting.

A battle report for the J-OK0C system can be found here.

All told, the battle lasted 30 minutes with Time Dilation not reported and the system hosting approximately 180 pilots at the peak of the fighting.
