The battle was fought over Did he say Jump’s staging Fortizar citadel in the system. The structure had been reinforced once by Siege Green forces who were ready to push it into its second reinforcement stage. Thus the alliance, alongside Shoot First. [SFQAL] formed an 80 pilot Machariel battleship fleet with several dreadnoughts and force auxiliaries waiting in reserve. The force bridged at around 250 kilometers from the stricken structure with two force auxiliaries and brought in a Phoenix dreadnought to bash the structure.
Did he say Jump formed an estimated 30 pilot Machariel fleet of its own to defend the structure and undocked from a station in the system to confront Siege Green. The fleet warped at long range (around 100 kilometers) of the Siege Green fleet and opened fire. The two sides exchanged fire at long range with Did he say Jump, backed by the firepower of its Fortizar, able to to destroy several of Siege Green’s ships while sustaining a few casualties of its own.
NullSechnaya Sholupen [-NSH-] came to aid Did he say Jump, bringing a 20 pilot Ishtar heavy assault cruiser fleet. The force entered the system through the Kamela gate and was working to get a warp in on the grid when an unexpected third party arrived in system.
Snuffed Out [B B C] as it turns out had learned of the timer and formed a 60 pilot Cerberus heavy assault cruiser fleet to join the fray. The fleet had entered Kourmonen through the Kamela system as well, encountered the NullSechnaya Sholupen Ishtar fleet and started a secondary fight on the gate.
The two fleets engaged each other on the gate, trading blows at medium (around 60 kilometers) range. The Ishtars unleashed their drone swarm on the Cerberus fleet which started bombarding the Ishtar fleet with heavy missiles. At first it seemed like the Ishtar fleet was tanking the damage thanks to the ships’ assault damage control modules, but once their effect wore out, the missile barrage overwhelmed them. After a few bruising losses, the Ishtar fleet warped out to engage the Siege Green fleet instead.
The Cerberus fleet loitered around, trying to secure a good warp in on the grid as well. NullSechnaya Sholupen in the meantime managed to land around a 100 kilometers from the Siege Green fleet, believing its ships were fitted with autocannons. This mistake would prove costly as the Siege Green battleships targeted and destroyed several more Ishtars, volleying them with their artillery cannons. Having lost several ships and not equipped to handle any of the hostiles in the system, the Ishtar fleet decided to beat a hasty retreat and depart from the system.
Siege Green in the meantime was busy bringing in dreadnoughts to bash the structure. Its long range Phoenix fit proved a bad match for the Fortizar, as its energy neutralizer fit was strong enough to drain the ships’ capacitor even at such long distance. With their capacitor empty, the dreadnoughts proved easy prey to the structure’s guns, destroying them one after the other. Time and again Siege Green was forced to jump in fresh dreadnoughts to replace those lost.
Did he say Jump’s fleet wasn’t making it easy either by warping at long range, blasting Siege Green’s mainline ships then warping off again after scoring a couple of kills. To this was added the Snuffed Out Cerberus fleet which attempted to do the same. The Cerberus fleet first tried to fight the Did he say Jump Machariel fleet only to realize its ships were shield fitted, thus harder to tackle and destroy. Instead the fleet concentrated on Siege Green which remained around its dreadnoughts and force auxiliaries at the 250 kilometer mark from the structure.
Snuffed Out warped at long range of the Siege Green Machariel fleet and started bombarding it, aiming at soft targets such as support ships and the logistics wing. Siege Green reacted by targeting the heavy assault cruisers themselves and opening fire as well, destroying a couple. Snuffed Out was forced to warp out before warping back in and trying again twice, each time losing a ship before giving up as well and withdrawing.
Did he say Jump in the meantime reshipped its losses in a station in the system before warping back to the besieged structure where upon it tethered on it. It then warped in a Revelation dreadnought on top of the structure and had it enter siege cycle. The ship, fitted for long range engagement, started pummeling the Siege Green force auxiliaries.
By this point, Siege Green had lost five dreadnoughts to the Fortizar with half of the structure’s armor remaining. Realizing bringing further dreadnoughts was futile, the fleet decided to warp at 100 kilometers of the structure and use the Machariels’ guns to finish the job. Did he say Jump met them again with its Machariel fleet.
Siege Green started losing mainline ships to the Did he say Jump fleet but concentrated all its firepower on the structure, even as losses mounted. It tried to alleviate some of the pressure by bringing a third force auxiliary to the field but the Fortizar made it impossible for the ship to be of any aid and it too became a victim of the Did he say Jump citadel. Siege Green powered through the losses and after a few harrowing and bloody minutes, managed to finish the job and push the structure into its second and final reinforcement cycle.
Having achieved its goal, Siege Green decided to withdraw rather than continue and fight on the citadel grid, conceding the field to Did he say Jump which was left to loot the field. With this the battle for Did he say Jump’s Fortizar ended.
